What’s In My Bag – Summer Edition 2014

It’s been a little more than 2 weeks since the official start of summer so let’s peek inside my bag and see what I’m carrying around with me this season!

MAH STUFF!

MAH STUFF!

Note: I don’t carry all of this with me day-to-day but most of them are on rotation depending on where I’m going.

I really, really like this bag (found here). The Boy got this for me when I started whining that I needed a crossbody (I gave my beloved backpack to my younger sister over winter break when I was visiting Singapore). I got this at The Bay in North Vancouver at around CAD$100 on sale. I’ve liked crossbody bags since I was young – it just keeps your arms free from the weight of a heavy purse! I’m not one for brands or branded goods but I really adore Fossil – their items are a bit pricey but I appreciate the high quality and enduring style of their products. It also helps that the brand isn’t splashed across the front like some other branded handbags I’ve seen.

I’ve never been a bag girl and never will be – I have one of each type of bag (one clutch, one crossbody, one purse etc) and I think that suits me for my needs. I absolutely HATE fussing around with bags with multiple zips and pockets so I make sure to keep my bag organized with little pouches for each category of things.

otherstuff

Here are my essentials – wallet, keys, IPOD and bus tickets.

The wallet was a wedding gift from my girlfriends back in Singapore (thanks guys) and yes, I really like Fossil.

C3PO and R2D2 keychains were bought at a sci-fi store in Singapore – I had C3PO for the longest time (he is my favorite character from the Star Wars Universe) and then decided to get R2D2 because I didn’t want C3P0 to be without his buddy.

I pimped out a simple binder clip with some glitter washi tape to hold my bus tickets together cuz I’m cool like that. And I like pretty things.

I’ve had this IPOD for years – it’s sturdy with the case I got for it and I carry it with me everywhere. I feel naked without music on transit.

Here are my collection of cards for shopping. I think I learned to ‘collect’ membership cards from my mother who also has her own handful of shopping cards for various stores. I keep them in a little red pouch which is hidden by some vouchers I carry around (one for H&M and one for a place called ArtKnapp – this was a wedding gift)

The most exciting part of my bag – the toiletries! I keep all of them in this pink pouch I got as part of a graduation gift from my aunt a few years ago.

A couple of items to highlight –

Blotting sheets are essential to my summer arsenal against oily skin. I get shiny really easily and I go through 2 or 3 of these at any one time. Listerine strips keep my breath smelling fresh and the Panadol is for when I get headaches (which I’ve been susceptible to since I was a young’un).

The Jack Black lip balm keeps my lips really moisturized and has SPF 25. I also feel a slight tingly feeling when I put this on and my lips look a little fuller. Overall, I like this product but wouldn’t repurchase as there are cheaper lip balms out there with SPF.

The Body Shop hand sanitizer was a part if 3-for-1 free minis set when I got some stuff from the Body Shop recently. I really like this hand sanitizer because it doesn’t dry my hands out. I’m not too crazy about the smell though…

I need to have some feminine wipes with me whenever I go out because sometimes, bathrooms don’t have toilet paper. UGH. This makes sure that I feel fresh all day. Speaking of feeling fresh, I also got this Travalo (CAD$15.99 from London Drugs) which is a handy perfume atomizer. Right now, the scent in it is Tocca’s Simone (my go-to Spring/Summer scent this year).

waterbottle

Last but not least, some food and water. My trusty BKR water bottle (featured in my June favorites post) and a protein bar is essential for me in the summer. I get hangry really easy so I always keep a snack on hand. I like this brand of protein bars because it doesn’t have that nasty aftertaste. I also have some Halls candy because I’m recovering from a dry cough I got a few weeks ago.

What are some of the essential items in your summer bag?
