It’s high summer here in Vancouver and it’s hot, hot, hot! Other than drinking tons of H2O to stay hydrated, I also think it’s important to hydrate the skin’s surface.
I’ve seen a bunch of face mists (Avene, Caudalie, Evian) making their rounds among the Youtube beauty community but I just could not justify spending upwards of $20 for glorified water. So I did what I usually do and DIY-ed it up! I love doing DIYs and this recipe is super-simple.
Ingredients and tools:
~ essential oils (any of your choice)
~ Vitamin E oil (1 capsule)
~ 1 spray bottle
~ distilled water
I selected lavender and tea tree essential oils because I like the calming scent of lavender and the healing properties of tea tree. I also added a capsule of Vitamin E oil – this step makes a big difference. I initially made the face mist without using Vitamin E oil and while it was refreshing, the mist did not feel as moisturizing as it did when I put Vitamin E oil in it.
1) Pour distilled water into the spray bottle.
2) Break open the Vitamin E capsule into the bottle.
3) Pour 2-3 drops of each essential oil into the bottle.
4) Shake the bottle.
5) Spray and enjoy!
I use my face mist every day when I wake up and it gives me a boost of hydration and relaxation in the morning. I also use it in the afternoon when I need a little pick-me-up.
