I don’t know why it took me this long to create a post specifically on music. My working theory is that fashion and music are soulmates – both exist to make the other better.
Music is a HUGE part of my life – my mom taught me to sing my first song at age 2. I’ve been in multiple choirs and largely taught myself to play the guitar at age 14. I dabbled in song writing at age 18 and made my first pop song at age 19 when I met The Boy. It was a parody of Estelle’s American Boy that yes, is called ‘Canadian Boy’.
Music is my life – I always have my IPOD on me and I feel lost without it (I don’t get this feeling with my phone).
I checked out my IPOD and here are the top 5 songs with the most plays of summer 2014.
Willow Smith Summer Fling
I remember waiting for the bus sometime early summer and listening to this song on my IPOD. I felt the sun shining on my face and this tune perfectly encapsulated that moment. Music’s ability to capture and recreate a perfect moment is amazing. Willow Smith got lots of backlash for this music video (What’s with the Brit accent? How old is she? Is she old enough to talk about summer flings?) I saw this song and music video as Willow playing around with her art and I appreciate the risks she takes with that.
Pharrell Williams Know Who You Are
Something about this song is addictive. When I first listened to it, I didn’t think much of it but it grew on me and is now one of my favorite songs of summer 2014.
I’m nearing my limit of listening to this song ( C is already at his limit and will skip this track when we are listening to it in the car) but it’s just so happy! It reminds me of parties with friends.
Clean Bandit ft. Jess Glyne Rather Be
I like the lyrics in this song and fancy that it’s like my life and relationship with the Boy.
Iggy Azalea Fancy
THE SONG OF THE SUMMER. C loves this song and even sings along to it in the car 🙂
This song makes me want to dance. And I do. Dance. A lot. When I hear this song.
