Currently Coveting: Fall 2014 edition

Three weeks ago, I enacted a self-imposed ‘shopping ban’ on myself so that I could purposefully save my coins for things I would need want like once fall comes around. For now, I am content keeping my eye out for some items I am keeping in mind once the first leaf hits the ground.

Here are 10 items I am currently coveting for Fall 2014.

1. Bella J. Sugar Rush candle

Fall means cooler weather which means candle burning time! I love the smell of freshly baked cookies, anything vanilla…this candle seems perfect for fall. Bella J candles have an added treat in them too – each one comes with a charm! A sales marketing gimmick of course – but hey! if it works, it works. Definitely reminiscent of finding toys in cereal boxes.

2. Nail polish

I don’t have a need for a huge nail polish collection so finding the perfect nail colors for fall and winter is my current mission. I think I got the perfect combo right here! I like going bright on the toes and nude on the fingers so Butter London’s classic red and brownish-taupe is perfect for the cold weather. I included NCLA’s Sugar Fix for kicks because grey with glitter….so fun!

3. Cloche

I used to be really into hats back in high school and first few years of university (I rocked newsboy caps, fedoras etc) but something evolved in my style where I stopped wearing hats altogether. I saw a cloche in a store recently and immediately gravitated towards it. I prefer the feminine and playful structure of the cloche over the masculine and dare I say, overdone fedora (I’m so over the fedora).

4. The Empress perfume

I smelled this in store at Sephora and fell in love with its airy, fruity, classic scent. A great perfume for fall/winter – the notes of watermelon mirror my spring/summer Tocca Simone with a lighter, classier take.

5. Nude lipstick: Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Rush

Pretty sure my search for the nude lipstick has ended with this one right here. I received a sample of this color in a Sephora order a few months back and have been using it since. I really like the creamy formulation of this lipstick and the fact that it doesn’t wash me out.

6. Classic pump

I don’t like high heels because they’re not comfortable and often, impractical. That said, a classic pump is something that has been missing from my wardrobe since FOREVER so perhaps this fall/winter, I might finally go on a hunt for something like this?

7. Leather backpack

I gave my leather backpack away to my youngest sister last winter when I was in Singapore because she needed one for school but that means I am in current need of one myself. I like this one from UO for its fun, unexpected color and shape.

8. Marc Jacobs lip balm

I received a sample of this lip balm and was amazed at its moisturizing properties. This is a heavy-duty lip balm that gets the job done. Best part – no slick feeling so it’s great for layering under lip colors.

9. ILIA lip scrub

A lip scrub in stick form? Yes please. Perfect for prep on those bold lip days.

10. Meze headphones

LOOK AT THESE HEADPHONES. THEY ARE GORGEOUS. NUFF SAID.

Note: By definition, the word ‘covet’ means to ‘yearn to have’ (thanks Google) not ‘definitely will go out and buy these’. No doubt, there is a lot of endless wanting/capitalist overtones that goes with this post. I’ll probably go out and get a few of the items featured here but as a cheapie/thrifty shopper/human being on a budget, I won’t go overboard and get ALL these things. Having endless amounts of things won’t plug any hole in your heart…what matters most is what you do with the things you have.

Stay true xo
