Superfood: Triple Threat Tea

I chanced upon this recipe a few months ago when I was down the flu and researching natural ways to combat it. At the time, the weather was transitioning from spring to summer and I fell victim to the seasonal flu. NO MORE!

As the weather is slowly but surely transitioning from summer to fall, I am prepared with this delicious, natural and healthy drink to keep my immunity up. I call this drink the ‘triple threat tea’ because alliterations are fun and because there are so many health benefits of ginger, lemon and honey.

Total time : 22 minutes


– 1 large ginger root

– 1 lemon

– 2 tbsp honey


1) Chop up enough ginger to fill 1/2 cup.

halfcupchoppedginger2) Put chopped ginger into a teapot to be steeped.

gingerinpotnowatercloseup3) Boil 8 cups of water. Pour boiling water over ginger and let steep for 20 minutes.

steeping24) Once steeped, put in honey (depending on your taste preferences of sweetness. I put 2 tbsp in). Stir well.

honey5) Squeeze in lemon juice (depending on your taste preference of tartness. I put juice of 1 lemon in) Stir well.

lemons6) Ready to serve in your favorite mug!

  1. I’ve read that lemon and honey do not fare well for circulation system. I usually stick by ginger-clove-honey tea when I catch cold and flu.
