Lifestyle Favorites of 2014

Here are some of my lifestyle favorites from 2014!

I read lots of book this year but the two that stood out to me are Perdido Street Station by China Mieville and The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman.

I was not a big fan of the plot or the characters of Perdido Street Station but Mieville’s world building rivals few in fantasy fiction.

Gaiman’s The Graveyard Book is a wonderful story about growing up. I cried at the ending and any book that moves me that much deserves to get on the favourites list.

I hardly touched my guitar this past year but I’ve been listening to lots of music including jazz, Disney classics and a bunch of other Spotify playlists. My favourite new music has to be from Kravitz and Prince’s new albums.

Of all the movie releases this year, I am most excited about X MEN Days of Future Past. I’ve always felt a deep connection to the X Men movie series and I’m really excited at all the future movie reboots.

TV Shows

The Boy and I watch a ton of shows together but only one stood out this year. Brooklyn Nine-Nine is fast replacing Parks and Rec and Community as funny ‘sitcom’ of the year.

The best thing to happen to me this past year has got to be my new kitten, Delima.

Youtube Channel

I’ve been watching Ingrid Nielsen for about 2 years now and I am very excited to see her channel morphing into a more grown-up version of her previous re-incarnations.

Home Decor Item

I’ve definitely burned my fair share of candles this year. I am partial to Voluspa’s Santiago Huckleberry and Goji Tarocco Orange. Delish!

This year, I discovered that I have a caffeine sensitivity which means caffeine past 2pm = insomnia and anxiety at night. For that, I love the caffeine-free Creme Caramel Rooibos from David’s Tea. It’s perfect with a little bit of almond milk and agave syrup.
