Product Review: Living Proof Instant Texture Mist

I chopped off my long, layered locks into a lob last month  that post here). I was initially hesitant about the new style because I thought it would require a lot of maintenance. Thankfully, my hairstylist is a genius – she knew exactly which products to recommend and exactly what kind of person I am (lazy girl and proud of it).

This is how I met Living Proof’s Instant Texture Mist .

What it promises:

  • tailor-made texture in 10 seconds
  • weightless
  • lasts for days, revivable for 48 hours
  • creates multiple tousled styles effortlessly
  • not stiff, sticky, dulling or dirtying
  • works on damp or dry hair, with or without heat styling
  • for all hair types
  • silicone-free and oil-frees
  • safe for color and chemically treated hair

What it delivers :

My first time using this product, I was very skeptical. Is it possible for a texturizing product to not dry out my hair and enhance my natural wave?

Why, yes girl, yes it is.

I’ve used this product several different ways to test out the claims on the website. You can see some examples above.

This product does not dry out my hair like traditional salt sprays. It also does not weigh down my hair like Oribe’s Dry Texturizing Spray (my review here). I can spray on massive amounts of this stuff and still be OK with it being in my hair.

I like to use this on damp hair. I spray 4 pumps into my hands and scrunch it into my hair. I let my hair air dry which takes about 2 -3 hours. To set the style, I use Living Proof’s Flex Hairspray (my review here).

This method gives my hair volume and defines my natural waves. It gives me the hair I have envisioned myself having for years.

The one gripe I have with this product is that I must be careful not to accidentally spray it on my face. I noticed that my skin gets reactive on areas this product touches my skin.

Price point : According to the Sephora website, this item in the 1.7 oz bottle retails for CAD$20 but I got it for CAD$17 at my local hairdresser’s.

Rating: A+

Final thoughts : Now that I’ve found this product, I don’t think I could ever go back. The deal with the hair devil has been done. As someone who struggled with styling wavy hair for years , I am unwilling to ever let this stuff go!  I’m definitely purchasing the bigger bottle!

Have you been enjoying my product reviews lately? I’ve been trying out new products lately so more product reviews are coming! Stay tuned! xo

  1. Ooh I can definitely see how it revived your waves – day 3, wow!
I do find it’s always a trade off between a very drying hair product or one that weighs down my hair. Glad to hear this one is the best of both!
